# The MCP client cannot connect

> Checks for the address, the transport and the tool list when a client cannot reach https://octo.ad/mcp.

## What you see

Your MCP client cannot connect to `https://octo.ad/mcp`, or lists no tools.

## Check

1. Check the address is exactly `https://octo.ad/mcp`.
2. Check the client uses streamable HTTP. The endpoint takes JSON-RPC over POST. A plain GET returns 405.
3. Send `tools/list` by hand, as on [Connect an AI client over MCP](/integrations/connect-over-mcp/). Result: You should see one tool, `ask_octopus`.

## Why it happens

A wrong address, or a client set up for a different transport.

## What to do

1. Correct the address or the transport, and connect again.
