# Your team's copy

> A separate copy that holds only one team's material, kept apart by architecture, not by policy.

## What it is

A team's copy holds only that team's material. It is kept apart from every other copy by architecture, not by policy. It is how a team starts: one team, the AI tool it already uses, and one connection IT has reviewed. In the first steps, the shared memory is that team's copy. How several team copies relate inside one company is not published here; ask the team.

## Where it fits in the first steps

**Step 3. One team's copy.**

- **What you give:** One team of 5 to 30 people and the AI tool it already uses. IT reviews one scoped connection between that tool and your team's copy, a separate copy that holds only that team's material.
- **What you get back:** A shared memory for the team, and a running record of what was decided and by whom, forming behind the tools it already uses. The team keeps its AI tool, and decision cards stay off until step 4. The only change step 3 needs is the one connection IT reviews on the sheet.
- **The promise:** One connection for IT to review, and a planned stop with a review at the end.

## Who runs it

Where the copy runs and who operates it are written on the review sheet IT approves before anything connects: [What IT approves](/start/it-approval/). Deployment options and regions are not published here.

- [Start one team's copy](/team-copy/start-one-team/): The step that sets up a shared memory and a decision record for one team, behind the tools it already uses.
- [What stays separate between teams](/team-copy/what-stays-separate/): The separation promises, stated as outcomes: what one tenant's credentials can and cannot reach.
